SOPHIE THEALLET S/S '11: BACKSTAGE & IN THE BOX

It's no wonder Sophie Theallet won this year's CFDA awards.

Generous with vintage lace and pleats, and punctuated with a palate of white, black, and
splashes of bold colors, her dresses were simple, effortlessly beautiful, globally-conscious and ethereal. Smart and sensible, these dresses are perfect for a night out on the town, a cocktail affair, or a really, really important first date.

The dress reminiscent of a wedding gown, shown above, closed the collection and was one of my favorites.
I could totally see myself wearing that for my own wedding--just as I could see myself wearing just about
everything in her Spring 2011 collection.
After seeing her red dress I'm on the hunt for the perfect LRD!
I was amazed to see the legendary Bill Cunningham present as well.

Backstage, (thanks, Sophie Elgort!) I saw the gorgeous (and very ethnically diverse) models
styled with simple topknots, ponytails and Frida Kahlo-inspired red lipstick.

FOCUS ON: DESIGNER DANIEL NIETO

"Featuring architectural and futuristic influences he is being billed as the second coming of Alexander McQueen, and those are legendary shoes to fill. We loved his surreal take on hand bags, but his shoes were the major draw." -JSD

A graduate of FIT, Daniel Nieto won the Excellence in Footwear Design, Next Generation Awards in 2010. Daniel’s pieces epitomizes the art of design. He uses leathers, skins, spikes, metals, furs, gems, and horns in avant-garde ways. I have to admit, from all the designers showcased at Colombian Lux Event, I was most captivated by Daniel's work. To boot, he's super super sweet :)The next day I came by & visited him during his photo shoot. He's going places.

COLOMBIANA

Sophie Elgort & I did the P.R. for the Colombian Luxury Event in August at the Altman Building--an amazing 2-day event attended by our favorite fashion-forward friends.

Upon entrance, guests were greeted by a spectacle of twenty chrome mannequins dressed in Colombian high fashion by some of the country’s most prominent designers and adorned with handcrafted jewelry by designer Mercedes Salazar. Large, captivating images by Colombian photographers, including Carlos Ruiz, cascaded from the ceiling as the crowd mingled.

Andres Cabas & Friends

The event showcased a series of three fashion shows by: Pitahaya Swimwear, Silvia Alfonzo & Edwing D’Angelo. In between the fashion shows, Latin Grammy-Nominated Colombian musician, Andres Cabas performed to an enthusiastic crowd.

The two-day event raised awareness of the Colombian Fashion, Beauty, Luxury, Travel, and Entertainment world to the New York City trade. Buyers, designers, socialites, potential customers, and media alike were present for the historical and fashionable showcase of Colombian Luxury Lifestyle Show in NYC. If you missed out, you can see coverage on from Getty Images, CBS, FrockOn, John Simon Daily, Le Fashion, Haute NYC, Fashion Ledge, Area New York, WireImage, the Examiner, among many other outlets.
